Doing two actions at the same time

S + 一边 + V1，一边 + V2
Used when one subject does two actions simultaneously: 他一边吃饭一边看手机. The subject comes before the first 一边. Both parts must be action verbs, not adjectives or states (*一边高兴一边累); for two qualities use 又…又… or 既…又…. With one-syllable verbs it can be shortened to 边…边… (边走边说).
