Verbal measure complement: how many times an action is done

V + (了/过) + number + 次/遍/下/趟 + N | V + (了/过) + pronoun + number + 次
The number of times goes AFTER the verb: 我看了三遍. 次 is the general 'time', 遍 stresses doing something through from start to finish, 趟 is a round trip, and 一下 means briefly or 'have a go'. A noun object can go before or after the frequency (去过两次上海 / 去过上海两次), but a pronoun object must come BEFORE it: 我见过他一次.

Examples
这个电影我看了三遍。
I've watched this movie three times.
我去过两次上海。
I've been to Shanghai twice.
我只见过他一次。
I've only met him once.
