A + 没有 + B + (那么/这么) + Adj

This is the most common way to negate a 比 comparison: 今天没有昨天那么热 'today isn't as hot as yesterday'. 那么 (or 这么 when B is near the speaker) is optional but sounds more natural. You cannot add 一点儿, 多了 or a number after the adjective (*没有他高一点儿), nor use 很. The adjective is usually the 'positive' pole (高, 大, 好, 快): 我没有他高 is more natural than 他没有我矮.

    Today isn't as hot as yesterday.

  • 上海的冬天没有北京那么冷。

    Winter in Shanghai isn't as cold as in Beijing.

  • 我汉语说得没有他那么好。

  • 坐公共汽车没有坐地铁快。

    The bus isn't as fast as the subway.
