S + 让/叫/使/请 + person + V/Adj
In a pivotal sentence, the person in the middle is both the object of 让/叫/使/请 and the subject of the next verb: 妈妈让我早点儿回家. 让 and 叫 mean tell, let or make; 请 is a polite invite/request; 使 is more formal and usually takes an adjective or psychological result (使我很感动), rarely a concrete command. Negation goes before 让/叫: 爸爸不让我出去. 了 and 过 attach to the second verb, not to 让 (*让了我去).
