Tips

  • Name the six pictures with HSK 3 verbs before listening: 打扫, 洗澡, 照相, 刷牙, 爬山, 上网, 生气, 着急… Most pictures show actions or feelings, not objects.
  • The reply usually holds the answer; the first line only sets the topic: 你怎么还不睡觉?— 我得把作业写完。→ the homework picture.
  • Listen for explanations (因为 / 所以 / 怪不得): 他今天怎么这么高兴?— 他考试考得很好。→ the happy face or the good test.
  • Cross off used pictures; settle the unsure one by elimination at the end. Use the second play only to confirm.

Common traps

  • Sino-Vietnamese misreadings: 生气 (sinh khí) means “angry”, 打算 (đả toán) means “to plan”, 认真 (nhận chân) means “serious, conscientious”. Going by the Sino-Vietnamese sound leads to the wrong feeling picture.
  • The mentioned object is not the focus: 别玩手机了,快去洗澡!— the shower picture is right, not the phone.

Explanation

The key word comes in the first line: “那只熊猫在睡觉呢” (that panda is asleep). The man confirms he came to Chengdu “就是为了看它们” (just to see them), where “它们” refers to the pandas. So the answer is picture C, the panda. No other picture shows an animal, so there is no trap here. Tip: while the pictures are on screen before the audio, name each one quickly in Chinese (熊猫, 月亮, 船…) so you recognise it as soon as you hear it.

Explanation

Two pictures show drinks, B (beer) and E (juice), so you must listen to the end. The man suggests “来一杯啤酒吗?” (a beer?), but the woman declines: “不了,我不喝啤酒” (no, I don’t drink beer). The deciding line is “给我一杯果汁吧” (give me a glass of juice). So the answer is E. Picture B, the beer, is the extra picture of this set — it is there to catch anyone who only caught the word “啤酒”.

Explanation

The verb “画” (paint) is in both lines: “你画的这只小鸟” (the bird you painted) and “我画了一个下午” (I painted all afternoon). The dialogue is about painting, so the answer is F, someone painting. “小鸟” is just what the picture shows; there is no bird picture in the set, so it cannot mislead. The compliment “真像!” (so lifelike!) also tells you it is a painting, not a real bird.

Explanation

“月亮” (the moon) is in both lines, with “多大、多漂亮啊” (how big and beautiful) and “中秋节” (Mid-Autumn Festival). So the answer is A, the full moon. Mooncakes are mentioned, but there is no mooncake picture to distract you. The pattern “一边…一边…” (do A while doing B) is very common at HSK 3.

Explanation

The woman says “船马上就要开了” (the boat is about to leave) and urges “快上来” (get on quickly). “上来” here means getting on board, so the answer is D, the boat. The man goes to buy “水” (water), but there is no picture of water; picture E is juice and belongs to another dialogue. “马上就要…了” (about to…) signals something is going to happen right away.
