Questions 31–40: longer dialogues (4–5 turns) followed by one question and three options. Played twice. The key information is usually in the last two turns.

Tips

  • Know how times are said: 差十分八点 = ten to eight (7:50), 八点一刻 = 8:15, 八点半 = 8:30. 差 works like Vietnamese “kém” but comes before the minutes.
  • Follow changes of plan: 本来…, 后来…, 还是…吧, 那就… — the answer is the final decision.
  • Questions often ask for a reason (为什么) or the next step (接下来要做什么). Remember the 因为 sentence and the last suggestion.
  • Read the three options first; on the first play locate the relevant part, on the second listen closely to it.

Common traps

  • Time order differs from Vietnamese: “five to eight” is 差五分八点 (7:55); when you hear 差, subtract.
  • The two speakers disagree: 女的觉得怎么样？ asks for the woman's opinion, not the man's, even if he spoke first.

Explanation

This longer dialogue has two days with one activity each, so jot them down as you listen: 星期六 – rain, 星期天 – sun. The woman’s last line fixes the plan: “我们星期天去河边，星期六在家看电影” (river on Sunday, a film at home on Saturday). The question asks about Saturday, so the answer is watching a film at home. “去河边照相” was the original idea and has moved to Sunday because of the rain — that is the main trap. “上网买东西” borrows “上网”, but the man only went online to check the weather.

Explanation

A relationship question needs two clues. Clue 1: the woman calls the man “李老师” (Mr Li, teacher), so he is a teacher. Clue 2: she asks “我儿子最近在学校怎么样？” (how is my son doing at school?), so she is a parent — the mother. The answer is a teacher and a student’s mother. “老师和学生” (teacher and student) is the trap: the student (her son) is only talked about, he is not in the conversation. “丈夫和妻子” is wrong because a husband and wife do not address each other as 老师, and he uses the polite “您”.

Explanation

The woman’s first question, “你怎么不在那家宾馆工作了？”, is the exam question itself, so the answer right after it is the key. He says “那儿离我家太远了” (it’s too far from my home) and “路上要花两个多小时” (over two hours on the road). So the answer is that it was too far from home. “想去超市买东西” is a trap built on “超市”: the supermarket is where he works now, not why he left. “工作太累” sounds plausible but he never says the job was tiring.
