Before listening, look at the six pictures A–F and name each in Chinese: A 水果, B 看书, C 做饭, D 开车, E 猫, F 下雨. The question “你在做什么？” (what are you doing?) gives nothing away; the information is in the answer “我在做饭呢” (I’m cooking). “做饭” (zuò fàn – cook) matches picture C, a woman cooking. Pictures B and D also show someone doing something, but reading and driving, so they are out. Once chosen, cross picture C off, because each picture is used only once.
