HSK fees 2026 in Vietnam

How much does the HSK cost in 2026?

The most common 2026 fees (as charged by Hanoi National University of Education and Thai Nguyen University) are listed below. Duy Tân University's official 2025 notice shows the same figures.

• HSK 1: 530,000 VND
• HSK 2: 670,000 VND
• HSK 3 + HSKK elementary (初级): 1,330,000 VND
• HSK 4 + HSKK intermediate (中级): 1,600,000 VND
• HSK 5 + HSKK advanced (高级): 1,900,000 VND
• HSK 6 + HSKK advanced (高级): 2,150,000 VND

Why the fee jumps at HSK 3

In Vietnam, HSK 3–6 are taken together with HSKK, so the fee covers two tests: the HSK (listening, reading, writing) and the HSKK (speaking). HSK 1–2 do not include HSKK, which is why they cost much less.

It also means that when you register for HSK 3–6 you need to prepare for speaking. HSKK is scored out of 100 with a pass mark of 60. Learn more on what is HSKK and practise in practice.

HSKK-only fees

If you only need a speaking certificate, for example to complete an application or to retake speaking, the recorded HSKK-only fees are below. Ask your centre which sessions accept HSKK-only registrations.

• HSKK elementary (初级): 530,000 VND
• HSKK intermediate (中级): 670,000 VND
• HSKK advanced (高级): 800,000 VND

Fees differ between test centres

Each centre publishes its own fees, so small differences exist. Hanoi University (HANU), for example, charges 1,350,000 VND for HSK 3 + HSKK, 1,620,000 VND for HSK 4 + HSKK, 1,900,000 VND for HSK 5 + HSKK and 2,160,000 VND for HSK 6 + HSKK.

For some centres, such as ULIS, HCMUE, Đông Á University, Thành Đông University and Đồng Tháp University, we have not recorded 2026 fees, so those cells in the table below are empty. Check the centre's own announcement.

Older articles online still quote lower fees for HSK 3 + HSKK; those are figures from previous years, not 2026.

What the fee includes

For HSK 1–2, the fee covers one HSK test. For HSK 3–6 in Vietnam, it covers the HSK test and the matching HSKK (HSK 3 with elementary, HSK 4 with intermediate, HSK 5–6 with advanced).

Other possible costs, such as certificate delivery, score review or changing to another session, are not in our data. Ask the centre before you pay so there are no surprises.

How to pay the HSK fee

The payment method (bank transfer or in person) and the payment deadline are set by each centre, so follow the instructions in your centre's registration notice.

Registration generally closes about 27 days before a paper test and about 10 days before a computer test, and many centres close earlier when full. Have the fee ready as soon as registration opens. See each session's deadline on HSK test dates 2026.

• Double-check your name, level and test mode (paper or computer) before paying.
• Use the payment reference format your centre asks for, if any.
• Keep the receipt or a screenshot of the transfer until you receive your certificate.

HSK 3.0 fees from 13 December 2026

From 13 December 2026, HSK 1–6 move to the new HSK 3.0 standard, in which the new HSK 3–6 include their own speaking test. HSK 3.0 fees in Vietnam have not been announced; centres are expected to publish them after the switch.

The table below will be updated once new fees are known. For the changes to the test itself, see HSK 3.0 vs HSK 2.0.

Save money: pick the right level and prepare well

The most expensive outcome is failing and paying again. Before you register, take the placement test to pick the right level, then try a full timed mock test such as the free HSK 4 mock test.

If your mock score is still far from the pass mark (HSK 4 needs 180/300), move to a later session and keep studying rather than paying for a test you are not ready for.
