HSK test centres in Vietnam: where to sit and how to register

How many HSK centres are there in Vietnam?

According to a July 2026 overview, Vietnam has about 16 HSK centres, mostly in the north. All of them run HSK together with HSKK, since in Vietnam HSK 3–6 are taken with the HSKK speaking test.

The list below includes centres with a confirmed 2026 schedule, plus a few that are not yet confirmed, for reference. It is updated when new announcements appear, but you should still check the centre's own website before registering.

Choosing a centre by city

Hanoi has the most choice: Hanoi University (HANU), the University of Languages and International Studies – VNU (ULIS) and Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE).

Elsewhere in the north there are Thành Đông University (Hải Dương), the Thai Nguyen University School of Foreign Languages and the Thai Nguyen University Testing Centre. In central Vietnam there is Đông Á University (Đà Nẵng). In the south there are Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE) and Đồng Tháp University.

If you live far from a centre, allow time for travel and pick a session that fits your study or work schedule. Session dates are on HSK test dates 2026.

Paper or computer: it depends on the centre

Not every centre runs both the paper test and the computer test (网考 wǎngkǎo / iBT). Based on current data:

• Computer only: HANU, HCMUE, Thai Nguyen University Testing Centre.
• Paper only: ULIS, HNUE, Thai Nguyen University School of Foreign Languages, Đồng Tháp University.
• Both modes: Đông Á University, Thành Đông University.

HSKK and TOCFL at the same centre

Every HSK centre in the list also runs HSKK. If you take HSK 3–6, the speaking test is part of the same session and the fee covers both; see HSK fees.

If you are also interested in TOCFL (for study or work in Taiwan), Thành Đông University is approved by Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training to co-organise TOCFL (Decision 951/QĐ-BGDĐT, 2023), and the Thai Nguyen University Testing Centre runs TOCFL under Decision 617/QĐ-BGDĐT (valid until 31 December 2028).

Steps to register for the HSK

The exact process is set by each centre, but most registrations follow these steps. Read your centre's notice carefully, as requirements can differ.

• Choose your level (if unsure, take the placement test first).
• Choose a session and a centre that offers the mode you want (paper or computer).
• Read the centre's registration notice: deadline, seats, documents required.
• Fill in the registration form and upload a photo as required.
• Pay the fee as instructed and keep the receipt.
• Watch your email or the centre's website for confirmation and test-day details.

Photo, ID and personal details

Centres usually ask for a portrait photo and an identity document when you register. Photo size, accepted documents and what to bring on test day are set by the centre, so follow its notice exactly.

The most common problem is registration details that do not match your ID: missing Vietnamese diacritics in your name, a wrong date of birth or document number. Check everything before you confirm, because these details appear on your results.

Tips to secure a seat

CTI's general deadline is about 27 days before a paper test and about 10 days before a computer test, but many centres close earlier when they are full. Register as soon as your centre opens.

If your nearest centre is full, consider a computer-test session (later deadline) at another centre, or move to the next session.

• Follow the websites of two or three suitable centres so you do not miss an announcement.
• Have your photo, ID and fee ready before registration opens.
• If you take the computer test, practise full mock tests on screen, such as the HSK 4 mock test.
• Drill weak task types in practice in the weeks before the test.

Centres without a confirmed 2026 schedule

Some universities have run the HSK before but have no 2026 schedule on record: Duy Tân University (Đà Nẵng) held a session in July 2025, while the University of Foreign Languages – Hue University and Phenikaa University (Hanoi) have not confirmed 2026 dates.
