Who sets the HSK calendar?

HSK dates are set worldwide by CTI and published on chinesetest.cn. Centres in Vietnam run the test on these dates, and some universities add their own sessions.

CTI's calendar page renders with JavaScript and could not be read directly, so the dates in the table below come from reliable secondary sources and are awaiting verification. Before you register, confirm the date on chinesetest.cn or on your centre's website.

How to read the schedule table below

Each row in the table is one session. It shows the test date, the mode (paper, computer or both), the registration deadline, the expected results date and a note where relevant.

Past sessions stay in the table so you can see the rhythm of the year. Focus on sessions still open for registration, and check the notes: computer-only dates, a single centre's extra date, or the first HSK 3.0 date.

• Test date: the day of the test, from the CTI calendar or a centre's own calendar.
• Mode: paper, computer (网考 wǎngkǎo / iBT) or both.
• Registration deadline: CTI's general deadline; centres may close earlier.
• Results date: an estimate, not an official date.

Paper and computer (iBT) sessions in 2026

Most sessions in the year offer both paper and computer tests. A few dates are computer-only; these are also the HSK 7–9 dates, as that exam is only held on computer.

Not every centre offers both modes. HANU and HCMUE run the computer test, ULIS and HNUE the paper test, while Đông Á University and Thành Đông University run both. So when you pick a date, pick a centre too on HSK test centres in Vietnam.

Registration deadlines: about 27 days and 10 days

Under CTI's calendar, registration closes about 27 days before a paper test and about 10 days before an iBT, at 23:00 Vietnam time. For the 13 December 2026 session, that means around 16 November 2026 for paper and around 3 December 2026 for the computer test.

In practice many centres close earlier once seats are full. Centre deadlines and seat limits are not always published, so the safest approach is to register as soon as your centre opens.

If you miss the paper deadline, check whether the same date has a computer test: its deadline is much later, but you need a centre that runs the iBT.

Extra sessions run by centres in Vietnam

Besides the CTI calendar, some universities add their own sessions, for example Hanoi University (HANU), Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE), Thành Đông University and the Thai Nguyen University Testing Centre.

These are marked as extra centre dates in the table. Their registration deadlines are set by the centre, so read the announcement on the centre's website for the exact date.

When are HSK results released?

The results date in the table is an estimate to help you plan, not a date announced by CTI. Computer tests usually return results sooner than paper tests.

Official results are checked on chinesetest.cn. If you need the certificate for a university, scholarship or job application, choose a session well before your deadline and ask the centre when certificates are handed out.

HSK 3.0 from 13 December 2026

The 13 December 2026 session is the first worldwide date for HSK 1–6 under the new HSK 3.0 standard (according to secondary sources; CTI's notice could not be read directly). After this date HSK 2.0 is not run in parallel.

If you are preparing for HSK 2.0, take one of the sessions before 13 December 2026 in the table below. From that date you need to prepare for the new syllabus, which has more vocabulary per level and a separate speaking test for HSK 3–6.

Choosing a session and planning your study

Work backwards from the test date: subtract the registration deadline to know when you must decide, then split the remaining weeks between vocabulary, task-type practice and mock tests.

If you are unsure of your level, start with the placement test, then train with practice and full timed mock tests such as the HSK 4 mock test.
